Staying Healthy During Spring Break

Happy first day of Spring Break! If you’re one of the lucky ones you might be taking time off to head off to a sunny beach or hit the slopes.. Lucky you. If you’re anything like us, as vacation rolls around we tend to leave healthy habits behind and indulge. Treating yourself is great, especially during vacation, but we could all use a few tips to try to stay on track! Below are some of our favorite ways to keep it up our healthy habits during the break!  



1. Stay Hydrated

When you’re dehydrated your kidneys begin to retain water causing you to feel bloated, fatigued and irritated. Dehydration can also cause headaches, dizziness, and lead you to believe you’re hungry causing you to overeat when, in reality, you’re just thirsty! Ditch the bloat by drinking at least 2 glasses of water during every meal. . Opt for a larger size water bottle so you can essure you drink enough plus add lemon or lime slices for some extra flavor.. If you need to, set reminders on your phone to drink up!


2. Don’t Over Do It

Speaking of drinking- we all know vacation calls for letting loose a bit and relaxing  because who wouldn’t want to lay by the pool with a cool cocktail? But it’s all about balance!  Our favorite trick is for every cocktail you have, to drink a glass of water! Your body will be hydrated, you’ll still have a good time, and you won’t have to waste a day lying in bed from a bad hangover!


3. Don’t Skip Meals

It’s easy to forget to eat when you’re out having fun and distracted by friends, but skipping meals leads to overeating later in the day. We suggest packing snacks to ensure this doesn’t happen! We love bananas, nuts, granola and carrots as easy grab-and-go snacks. If you don’t have enough time to sit down and eat a full meal you’ll have these snacks to curb your hunger with clean, sustainable energy.


4. Protect Your Skin

Whether you’re in the sun or the snow, sunscreen is a MUST! Always remember to pack sunscreen with you and reapply it every so few hours, especially after being in the water. A tinted moisturizer with SPF is the perfect way to remember to apply it daily.  


5. Quick Workouts

Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you have to ditch your workout routine. Make sure to pack tennis shoes and workout clothes in your suitcase as a reminder to stay active. Whether this means a hike, a jog on the beach, or a quick HIIT session in your hotel room, make some time for it! Our favorite is trying out new studios if we are in a new city, or doing water sports at the beach. Anything that gets you moving and working up a sweat will keep you feeling energized throughout your trip.
