The Cocktail Guide to a Guilt-Free Labor Day

For many of us, Labor Day means BBQ, family and friends, and most of
all…. day drinking. It’s easy to let loose on Labor Day because what better way to celebrate the end of summer than with a nice cold cocktail?? The downfall to this carefree holiday is that many added processed sugars could be especially sneaky in all the tasty drinks. So here are a few of our favorite tips on how to have a ~healthy-ish~ Labor Day and mitigate the not-so-fun hangover.

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate!

It’s always important to remember to stay hydrated every day, especially this holiday with the hot weather and alcohol combo. Making sure to drink a glass of water every hour will not only lessen the chances of a terrible hangover, but also will help replenish your body with necessary fluids to prevent dehydration.

Replace Sugary Sodas With Sparkling Water

Nothing taste better in a cocktail than refreshing bubbles. It’s always easy to mix alcohol with sugary sodas like Sprite and Coke, but try opting for sparkling waters like Topo Chico or La Croix. This way you can cut back on the added sugar but still enjoy the carbonation.

Use Fresh Juices Instead of Fruit Cocktails

With many fruit cocktails comes a lot of added sugar, hidden calories, and
preservatives. Fresh fruit juices are not only loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, but also are more easily metabolized by our bodies. Try opting for Juice Society’s Hydrator (watermelon, mint) or Zest (green apple, pear, celery, spinach, lime). They make the perfect guilt-free mixer to any cocktail.

Stay Away from Sugary Liqueurs
As tasty as peach and passion fruit flavored liquors sound when it comes to a summer cocktail, they are notorious for hiding hidden processed sugars. Try using non-flavored vodkas when it comes to spiking your cocktails, or opt for vodkas infused with real fruit juice like our favorite Dulce Vida Tequila!

Have Fun!

Even though being healthy and protecting our bodies is important to remember, don’t let this affect you from having fun this holiday. Sit back, relax, grab a cocktail, and enjoy some good company because THAT is what matters most!
